Chase Tower (formerly known as Valley Bank Center and Bank One Center) is a 40-story skyscraper at 201 North Central Avenue in Phoenix, Arizona. Opened in 1972, the building was designed by architects Welton Becket and Fred M. Guirey. The skyscraper is located in Central Avenue Corridor, an economic and residential region of Downtown Phoenix.
The Phoenix Corporate Center, a 26-story office building, was completed just a few years later in 1965 claiming the title as the city's tallest building. [7] There is a 20 feet (6.1 m) by 20 feet (6.1 m) sign on the north and south sides. [8] The exterior was remodeled in the late 1980s which substantially changed the building's appearance.
It rises 374 feet (114 meters) and 24 floors, and is currently the sixth tallest building in Phoenix. It was designed in the modern style by HKS, Inc. Originally, the tower was supposed to have a twin, rotated 90 degrees from the current tower, but due to the Savings and Loan Crisis of the 1980s and 1990s, the second tower was dropped.
