Luecke and Toms were inspired by the Santa Barbara Summer Solstice Parade and Celebration. [1] The Parade quickly grew to include thousands of participants and tens of thousands of spectators.
Trans Pride Seattle was first founded in 1997 as a march and protest in Capitol Hill. [2] It was revived 16 years later by Gender Justice League on June 23, 2013, in Cal Anderson Park. [3] [4] [5] The pride has grown to tens of thousands of attendees. In 2024 they required attendees to wear masks, and had ASL interpreters for the stage events.
