Goku saves Vegeta from being absorbed. As Vegeta recovers, Goku continues to fight the thought form of Super Buu. Goku is rapidly losing energy, and just as Super Buu is about to defeat Goku, Vegeta cuts down the pod containing the fat Majin Buu. This causes Super Buu to go mad, as without the fat Majin Buu absorbed, Super Buu cannot exist.
Majin Buu clears some space in the countryside and builds a house for him to live in. Goten and Trunks continue learning the Fusion Dance, and begin to master the technique. They each plead with Goku for him to show them the Super Saiyan 3 transformation, and because he knows his time is up, Goku complies.

Buu temporarily absorbs Gotenks to increase his own power, but Vegeta and Goku are able to retrieve him from Buu. When Buu destroys the Earth, Goten and Trunks are killed. The Dragon Balls later bring Goten back to life along with the rest of the Earth in order to give energy to Goku's Genki-Dama attack, which defeats Buu.
Cumber defeats Super Saiyan God Goku and knocks him unconscious. Just before Cumber can kill Goku, Xeno Goku and Xeno Vegeta arrive as Super Saiyan 4s and save Goku.
