Five countries submitted competing candidatures to organise a Specialised Expo in either 2027 or 2028: the United States of America (in Minnesota [2]), Thailand (in Phuket [3]), Serbia (in Belgrade), Spain (in Malaga [4]), and Argentina (in San Carlos de Bariloche). The candidature list closed on 28 January 2022.
A replacement museum was built in Portland's Washington Park and is today known as the World Forestry Center.
