Kiptopeke State Park is a state park located in the southern end of the Eastern Shore of Virginia and the Delmarva Peninsula in Northampton County, near Cape Charles.The park offers recreational access to the brackish waters of the Chesapeake Bay with its shoreline, beach, boat ramps and piers, as well as unique migratory bird habitat along the East Coast flyway.

The Virginia Dept. of Highways has carried the Pocahontas name on to the newest ferry built for the Jamestown-Scotland wharf run on the James R. The old ferry terminal at Kiptopeke is now a state park and most of the old ferrying is still in use for park use. The Little Creek terminal is pretty much gone and what is left is commercial. [8]

Kiptopeke is an unincorporated community in Northampton County, Virginia, United States. Cape Charles Light was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. [ 1 ]
In 1951, the northern terminus in Delmarva was relocated to a location now within Kiptopeke State Park. Despite an expanded fleet of large and modern ships by the VFC in the 1940s and early 1950s which were eventually capable of as many as 90 one-way trips each day, the crossing suffered delays due to heavy traffic and inclement weather.
Mount Rogers National Recreation Area is a United States national recreation area (NRA) in southwestern Virginia near the border with Tennessee and North Carolina.It centerpiece is the Lewis Fork Wilderness containing Mount Rogers, the highest point in the state of Virginia with a summit elevation of 5,729 feet (1746 m).
US 13 passes to the east of Kiptopeke State Park, heading farther east from the bay, and comes to an intersection with SR 704 that provides access to the community of Kiptopeke and the state park to the west. The route continues north through rural areas with some development, coming to an intersection with SR 683.
