The Sodo–Moyale–Suswa High Voltage Power Line (or Ethiopia–Kenya HVDC Interconnector) is a 500 kV bipolar high-voltage direct current electricity power transmission line connecting Ethiopia with Kenya. It was completed in November 2022.
In the year 2014 Ethiopia had – according to an estimation of the CIA – an annual electricity production of 9.5 TWh and was at position 101 worldwide. The total installed capacity was ~2,4 GW e (position 104). [2] In July 2017, the country had a total installed capacity of ~4.3 GW e and an annual electricity production of 12.5 TWh. [3]

Ethiopian Electric Power (Amharic: የኢትዮጵያ ኤሌክትሪክ ኃይል) is an Ethiopian electrical power industry and state-owned electric producer. It is engaged in development , investment , construction , operation , and management of power plants , power generation and power transmission .
The pilot pin is located in the centre of main contact circle on 4- and 5-pin connectors. On 3-pin (2P+E) connectors, it is located on the contact circle opposite the ground pin. The other connectors are located 105° on either side of the earth pin, rather than 120° as in the smaller variants, to make room for the pilot pin.
Semko 17 were 3/4-pin 3-phase connectors, with (4-pin) or without (3-pin) a neutral connector. Earth were provided via the shield. The connectors were available in different sizes, 16 A with rounded corners; 25 A and 63 A were rectangular. These connectors were used mainly in industrial and agricultural installations.
