The airport is a hub for two international airlines—the flag carrier Nepal Airlines and Himalaya Airlines, along with multiple other domestic carriers.

The international terminal can handle up to 610 departing passengers per hour. Two terminals, one domestic and one international, will be able to handle one million passengers annually.
