Peterborough is a town in the mid north of South Australia, in wheat country, just off the Barrier Highway. It was originally named Petersburg after the landowner, Peter Doecke, who sold land to create the town.
Orton Longueville saw many homes built after the Second World War. It is cut through north-south by the Nene Parkway (A1260) constructed in the 1970s. To the west of this road lies the original 'village', and to the east is a housing estate and some light warehousing laid out on former farmland in the latter half of the 20th century.
