Old Bethany Church, also known as Old Bethany Church of Christ and Old Meetinghouse of the Bethany, is a historic Disciples of Christ church located at Main and Church Streets in Bethany, Brooke County, West Virginia. It was built in 1852, and is a two bay by five bay, brick meeting house-style building on a fieldstone and sandstone foundation.
Wayne was established in 1842, by the same act of the Virginia General Assembly that created Wayne County. The county was named for General "Mad Anthony" Wayne. [6] The town was initially known by the name "Trout's Hill," after Abraham Trout, who donated the land upon which the county's courthouse was built.
An alternate piece of land in West Virginia was offered to the community. On May 25, 2000, the monastery moved to Wayne, West Virginia. On December 7, 2008, the monastery's spiritual father Archimandrite George was consecrated auxiliary bishop of Mayfield with his cathedra at Mayfield.

[2] The county was founded in 1842 and named for General "Mad" Anthony Wayne. [3] Wayne County is part of the Huntington–Ashland, WV–KY–OH Metropolitan Statistical Area.
