As a last resort, when using pre-formatted text, you can dispense with the table feature entirely and simply start the lines with a space, and put spaces to position the numbers—however, there should be a good reason to use pre-formatted text in an article:
A style element may be added to apply to the entire table, to all the cells § in a row or § column, or just to individual cells in the table. To add style to the entire table, add the style element to the § Begin-table delimiter line at the top of the table.

The easiest way to insert a new table is to use the editing toolbar that appears when you edit a page (see image above).
