It was created on 1 April 2020, from the civil parishes of Fawcett Forest and Whitwell and Selside. [1] It borders the parishes of Skelsmergh and Scalthwaiterigg, Longsleddale, Shap Rural, Orton, Whinfell and Strickland Roger.
