Bungay (/ ˈ b ʌ ŋ ɡ i /) [2] is a market town, civil parish and electoral ward in the East Suffolk district of Suffolk, England. [3] It lies in the Waveney Valley, 5 + 1 ⁄ 2 miles (9 kilometres) west of Beccles on the edge of The Broads, and at the neck of a meander of the River Waveney. In 2011 it had a population of 5,127.
The village is bordered by Kelsale in the north, the B1121 in the east and the A12 to the west. In 1881 the civil parish had a population of 94. [1] On 25 March 1885 the parish was abolished and merged with Kelsale. [2] Carlton is the location for all the larger businesses based at the Carlton Park Industrial Estate.
