The church was partially restored in the mid-18th century: the top 16 feet of the tower was rebuilt, and the nave roof was repaired. In 1775 part of the south transept was enclosed to form a vestry. In 1827 the north transept was created and the nave was extended; a new font, presented by the Rev. Isaac Clarkson, was installed.

St Bartholomew's Church was first mentioned in a document in 1282. [2] In 1291, a fire destroyed the church, but it was rebuilt in the following years. [2] The tower was erected between 1411 and 1448. [2] After a restoration, the church received a new organ by the organ builder Andreas Eggemann in 1511. [2]
