Newry (/ ˈ nj ʊər i /; [2] from Irish An Iúraigh [3]) is a resort town in Oxford County, Maine, United States. The town’s year-round population was 411 at the 2020 census . [ 4 ] The town is best known as the home of Sunday River Ski Resort and has a proportionately large seasonal (winter) population.
Sunday River included one double chair and a couple of surface lifts at the time. Sunday River slowly grew to become New England's second most popular resort in the 1990s. In 1994, Otten formed LBO Resort Enterprises Corp and purchased Attitash in New Hampshire. By 1995, Sugarbush, Vermont was added to the portfolio of LBO resorts.
