John Crowley / ˈ k r aʊ l i / (born December 1, 1942) is an American author of fantasy, science fiction, historical fiction, and non-fiction.Crowley studied at Indiana University and has a second career as a documentary film writer.
The Green Child is the only completed novel by the English anarchist poet and critic Herbert Read. [1] Written in 1934 and first published by Heinemann in 1935, the story is based on the 12th-century legend of two green children who mysteriously appeared in the English village of Woolpit, speaking an apparently unknown language. [2]
Herbert Read, the writer and art critic, bought a painting and invited Kelly to illustrate the second edition of his short novel, The Green Child. [4] Kelly accepted the commission. Read returned the favour by writing the introduction to the book Paintings by Felix Kelly published in 1946 by Falcon Press. [2]
