The school was established in 1972 in response to the boom of Tucson, Arizona's east side in the 1960s and 1970s. It is named after nearby Sabino Canyon. Contemporary establishments Santa Rita High School and Sahuaro High School have similar facilities. Starting with grades 9 and 10, it finally had a full graduating class in 1975.
Born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, Hicks graduated from Sabino High School in 1980 and from the University of Arizona in 1984. [1] [2] After starting in radio, he was a weekend sports anchor on KVOA, the NBC affiliate in Tucson. Hicks moved east to work as a sports reporter for CNN in Atlanta in 1989 [2] and went to NBC Sports in 1992.
Gregory Michael Guillot is from Tucson, Arizona and graduated from Sabino High School in 1984. [3] [4] [5] He attended the University of Arizona before transferring to the United States Air Force Academy where he graduated in 1989 and commissioned as a second lieutenant.
Contemporary establishments Sahuaro High School and Sabino High School have similar facilities. The campus has three main two-story classroom buildings where most classes are held. The school educated about 950 students from grades 9 to 12. Graduating classes usually consisted of 300 students. In recent years, enrollment at Santa Rita has dropped.
