Sidon (/ ˈ s aɪ d ən / SY-dən) or better known as Saida (/ ˈ s aɪ d ə, ˈ s ɑː ɪ d ə / SY-də, SAH-id-ə; Arabic: صيدا, romanized: Ṣaydā) is the third-largest city in Lebanon. It is located on the Mediterranean coast in the South Governorate , of which it is the capital.
The city's name has changed over time and has been known by various names, including Sidun, Saida, and Saïd. The earliest evidence of human settlement in the area dates back to the Neolithic period, around 4000 BCE. Sidon rose to prominence during the Bronze Age and became one of the most important city-states in the region.
The university has a board of trustees composed of prominent Iraqi and American leaders [who?] from across a wide range of sectors, including government, business, nonprofit and education sectors. The Board of Trustees oversees the management and operations of the university and is a self-perpetuating body that establishes it policies.
