Advanced Placement (AP) United States History (also known as AP U.S. History or APUSH (/ ˈ eɪ p ʊ ʃ /)) is a college-level course and examination offered by College Board as part of the Advanced Placement Program.
On April 3, 2020, College Board announced more details in regards to specific AP tests. [5] The updates includes more information on the format and structure of the exam. [6] College Board also put out new testing dates for the AP exams. [7] One major change to the AP exam is that the tests will be completely open-note. [8]

In 2018, when the AP World History exam was discontinued, the College Board announced their commitment to developing two replacement courses, AP World History: Ancient and AP World History: Modern, but so far only the Modern course has launched, with the Ancient course still in development.
In June 2015, the exam was changed to AP World History: Modern. [1] The new exam only includes material from 1250 C.E. onwards. Students first took the new course in the 2019–20 school year. The College Board announced the development of AP World History: Ancient, which focuses exclusively on earlier periods, including prehistory. [2]
