Kularatne married Hilda Muriel Westbrook on 11 December 1920. She had come to Ceylon from England in January 1920 as an English teacher to Ananda College. Hilda Kularatne later served as the principal of Ananda Balika and she founded the Sri Sumangala Girls' School at Panadura and the Maliyadewa Girls' School at Kurunegala.
Ananda Balika Vidyalaya (Sinhala: ආනන්ද බාලිකා විද්යාලය) is a public girls school located in Colombo 10, Sri Lanka. It was established in 1925 by Anagarika Dharmapala.
She rendered 10 years of devoted service to the upgrading of the school and left having been appointed Principal of Ananda Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo. 1972–1976: Mrs. L. Gunasingha succeeded Mrs. Nanayakkara and during her short period she helped to improve the standard of the school. The school was now endowed with a new two storied building.
