"Stay Home" is a song by American pop rock band Self, released through DreamWorks Records on May 15, 2001. It was written and performed by the band's lead member, Matt Mahaffey , with mixing and production by Eric Valentine .
He wrote "Stay Home" for the Shrek soundtrack, and subsequently produced the music for the surprise endings of Shrek, Shrek 2, and Shrek Forever After. [5] Mahaffey also contributed to the film score of The Boss Baby: Family Business and was the composer for Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Movie.
Self also contributed songs to film soundtracks, including "Stay Home" for Shrek (2001). The band's planned fifth album, Ornament and Crime (2003), was delayed and shelved due to DreamWorks' dissolution. Following the death of Mike Mahaffey in 2005, the band went on hiatus.

In 1984, P.D.Q. Bach (a.k.a. Peter Schickele) lampooned the song in his opera The Abduction of Figaro in the aria "Stay with Me". Australian group Human Nature included their version of the song on the 2014 album Jukebox.
"Stay" is the debut single by hip-hop group, 2-4 Family. It is their only song in which former band member Jo O'Meara features in, as she left the band shortly afterward; joining S Club in 1999. O'Meara sang the lead vocals. It charted at #8 on the Viva Top 100. A version of the music video has 545,000 views on YouTube as of August 25th, 2024.
