Jul 22, 2009. #13. I would take a pass on the Argyles. If you want to buy any Holt's bundles, read the descriptions and look for a reference to Holt's Tasting Committee. Any bundle that bears the seal of approval from the Holt's Tasting Committee is generally good, and a good buy for the money. The Argyle description doesn't mention the HTC ...
Ferrero was a full-time police officer in Philadelphia when he began working around cigars in 1978, taking a part-time job for Holt's, a local retail cigar shop owned by the Levin family. After suffering an accident that ended his 17-plus years on the force, Ferrero was hired full time by Holt's in 1986.
So I just got the Royal Flush Sampler from Holt's in the mail (Looks awesome, thanks!) and there was a catalog and a small insert. The insert contained a letter apologizing to Padilla for something printed in it's Father's Day 2008 Catalog. So I look at the catalog included and it happens to be...
Aug 20, 2014. #1. This started out as a guide to the makers smaller label, cheapo, and house-brands, but expanded to include pretty much any cigar made by another company other than what is obvious by the label, especially when not widely known (some might be common knowledge, so I stress that I am still a noob!).

Just on Holt's weekend sale there seem to be 25 offerings of Rocky Patel. Do people buy these random "blends"? Do you know anyone who has tried the full line? Or are these a loss leader to make the other ones sell better? i.e. "the "Ocean Club" was alright, but I think I'll stick to "The Edge" because its better even if the price point is higher"

Location. Winona, MN. Apr 1, 2018. #20. I’ve never had a problem with Thompson other than the pressure I received from them in the form of telemarketing calls a few years back, asking me to join their dreaded cigar club. I told them to please stop calling me and they stopped. Problem solved.
The Vintage 92 was the cigar that got me "hooked" on cigars and I also really like the Decade, Sungrown and OWR, but also agree that there are just too many out there to keep up with. njstone BoM January 2010
