The Synchro-mesh 465 or SM465 is a heavy-duty, four-speed manual transmission built by General Motors for use in light and medium duty trucks from 1968 to 1991 at the factory in Muncie, Indiana; it was designed to replace the somewhat similar Muncie SM420 transmission, which had been in production since just after World War II.

They were used in some military vehicles into the 1980s. It was replaced in civilian vehicles by the Muncie SM465 transmission in 1968.

Bought by GM in 1919. Became Muncie Products Division. Closed in 1932. Reopened by Chevrolet in 1935 (Chevrolet Muncie). Became part of New Venture Gear joint venture with Chrysler in 1990. GM owned 36% while Chrysler owned 64%. GM sold its stake to DaimlerChrysler in 2002 but took back the Muncie plant. The plant closed in 2006.
