Valle Catholic was established in 1925 by the Sisters of St. Joseph. It serves residents in Sainte Genevieve County. [2] In 1925, Reverend C. L. Tourenhout asked the Sisters of St. Joseph to organize a high school. They granted the request and opened the school in the stone structure south of the church at DuBourg and Market Streets.

In 1927 St. Nicholas High School built a permanent building, it would be in this building that Bishop Rosecrans High School would be formed and have its first classes. In 1963, after the founding of the new consolidated high school, Albert and Cora Rogge gave money for the Catholic Youth Center which soon became the new home of the high school.
The school was founded in 1923 by Bishop James J. Hartley as a high school and college seminary for the education of Catholic priests for the service of the Diocese of Columbus. The first classes, consisting of 27 boys, were held at Sacred Heart School, an all-girls Catholic school, while the main school building was being built from 1923 to 1925.
Bishop Watterson High School was the first co-educational diocesan high school in Franklin County. It opened its doors in the fall of 1954 in honor of Bishop John Ambrose Watterson , the second Bishop of Columbus, who served until April 17, 1899.
