NBC Sports Boston is an American regional sports network owned by the NBC Sports Group unit of NBCUniversal, and operates as an affiliate of NBC Sports Regional Networks.The channel broadcasts regional coverage of professional sports events throughout New England with a major focus on Boston area teams, as well as several original analysis, magazine and entertainment programs.
The club, considered by some historians as the first formal football club in the United States, was formed in 1861 by schoolboys who played the "Boston game" on Boston Common. They played mostly among themselves early on; though they organized a team of non-members to play a game in November 1863, which the Oneidas won easily.
This included 102 New York Sports Clubs in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut; 27 Boston Sports Clubs in Massachusetts and Rhode Island; 12 Washington Sports Clubs in D.C, Maryland, and Virginia; 5 Philadelphia Sports Clubs; 2 BFX Studios; 3 clubs in Switzerland; and another D.C. club with a different brand name. The Boston Ski and Sports Club (BSSC) is a for-profit organization founded in 1967 in Boston, Massachusetts. The club offers sports leagues, ski/snowboard programs, and travel to certain ski resort destinations to other countries.
