Othonoi (Greek: Οθωνοί, also rendered as Othoni, Ancient Greek: Ὀθρωνός, romanized: Othrōnós) is a small inhabited Greek island in the Ionian Sea, located northwest of Corfu, and is the westernmost point of Greece. Othonoi is the largest and most populated of the Diapontian Islands.
The island was known to the ancients as Ptychia (Ancient Greek: Πτυχία). [1] At some point, during the Peloponnesian war, Athenian generals used Ptychia in order to keep in custody some prisoners. [2] The island was involved in Siege of Corfu (1798–99), where Russo-Ottoman allies captured it from French on 28 February 1799.
