Annandale is a former community in Los Angeles County, California that is now a neighborhood in Los Angeles, California and Pasadena, California. The Pasadena portion is bordered by Colorado Boulevard to the north, San Rafael Avenue to the east, and the Pasadena-Los Angeles border to the south and west.
The Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority (sometimes referred to as LAMTA or MTA I) was a public agency formed in 1951. Originally tasked with planning for rapid transit in Los Angeles, California , the agency would come to operate the vestiges of defunct private transit companies in the city.
Annadale opened on May 14, 1860, when the Staten Island Railway was extended from Eltingville, one stop to the north. [1] The original station building was replaced in 1910, moved a short distance, expanded into a residence, and finally moved to Historic Richmond Town in 1975.
Through service to Downtown Los Angeles was discontinued on May 5, 1911 and the line became a shuttle service between Avenue 64 and Annandale. [2] After November 13, 1926, Pacific Electric records show that service north of Adelaide Place was abandoned, and any passenger service after was likely run to satisfy franchise requirements.
