Egodahage George Wilfred Alwis Samarakoon (13 January 1911 – 2 April 1962) known as Ananda Samarakoon was a Sri Lankan (Sinhalese) composer and musician. He composed the Sri Lankan national anthem "Namo Namo Matha" and is considered the father of artistic Sinhala music and founder of the modern Sri Lankan Sinhala Geeta Sahitya (Song Literature). [1]

The text of the Manjusri Vasthu Vidya Sastra is in Sanskrit but written in Sinhala script. Words such as "navadada" for nine indicate that the text is in Sinhala as well. E. W. Ven. Ñāṇananda was born in 1940 to a Sinhala Buddhist family in Galle District in Sri Lanka.He received his school education from Mahinda College, Galle. Only three Sinhala books survive from the Anuradhapura period. One of them, Siyabaslakara , was written in the 9th or 10th century on the art of poetry and is based on the Sanskrit Kavyadarsha . Dampiya Atuva Gatapadaya is another, and is a glossary for the Pali Dhammapadatthakatha , providing Sinhala words and synonyms for Pali words.
