The school opened in 2002 [2] as part of the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District (CFBISD). Ranchview serves students in Irving (including portions of Las Colinas and Valley Ranch), Coppell, and Farmers Branch. [3] Prior to Ranchview's opening, all students living west of Interstate 35E attended R.L. Turner High School.
Farmers Branch was one of fifteen cities to approve services of Dallas Area Rapid Transit in 1983 by levying a 1 cent sales tax.
