A Chipmunk Christmas is a 1981 animated Christmas television special based on characters from Alvin and the Chipmunks. [1] Produced by Bagdasarian Productions in association with Chuck Jones Enterprises, it first aired on NBC December 14, 1981, nine years after the death of Alvin and the Chipmunks creator Ross Bagdasarian Sr. (also known as David Seville). [2]
Christmas with the Chipmunks (reissue) was released in 2007. The songs in this collection were all 24 songs from Christmas with the Chipmunks and Christmas with the Chipmunks Vol. 2 (although not in their original order of release from both volumes) and, as a bonus song at the end, the 1968 duet with Canned Heat "The Chipmunk Song".
Clyde Crashcup was created by Ross Bagdasarian.He is voiced by Shepard Menken mimicking the enunciation of Richard Haydn's nasal-voiced character Edwin Carp. Clyde had one of the four segments of each episode of The Alvin Show, and the Chipmunks starred in the other three (two of which were musical segments).

Later, the Chipmunks and Chipettes—Brittany, Jeanette, and Eleanor—play an arcade game Around the World in 30 Days, and Alvin and Brittany argue over which would win an actual race around the world after Brittany wins the game.
In addition to the non-album Alvin for President, "Maria from Madrid", which was previously released as a non-Chipmunks B-Side to "Judy" in 1959 under Bagdasarian's stage name of David Seville, [citation needed] and two unreleased Chipmunk covers, "Clementine" and "Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair", rounded out the remaining song segments.
