Homer, feeling guilty, accompanies Apu to the Kwik-E-Mart's head office in India. There, they meet with the head of the Kwik-E-Mart corporation, who grants them only three questions; however, Homer wastes the questions on inane banter. An enraged Apu chokes Homer, who thinks Apu is trying to apologize again.
Six weeks after the incident, Apu returns to the Kwik-E-Mart only to find it renovated into a new store, the Quick & Fresh, a store that sells natural products run by Jay. At the store's restroom, Jay explains that Apu has an addiction to scratching lottery tickets. Because of that, he is the owner of 80% of the store.
Apu ends up attempting to rob Swapper Jack's in a desperate measure, but the cashier (Snake Jailbird) convinces him to hand over the gun. Later, Apu is about to shut down the Kwik-E-Mart when his wife Manjula tells him that Swapper Jack's is closing because it was discovered they were selling monkey meat imported from Brazil as chicken.
At the end of the episode, John performs a version of "Your Song" for Apu and Manjula on the roof of the Kwik-E-Mart. The scene is a callback to the season 7 episode " Lisa the Vegetarian ", in which Paul McCartney performed on the roof. [ 5 ]

Days later, Apu thinks that he has escaped the marriage until he sees his mother walking towards the Kwik-E-Mart. To cover him, Homer tells Apu to pretend that Marge is his wife. At the Simpson residence, Marge disapproves of the plan, but decides to do it for Apu's sake.
