'Energy Efficient and Affordable Four-Wheeler Motor Vehicles') is an Indonesian automobile regulation which exempts low-cost and energy-efficient cars from luxury sales tax to ensure affordability, provided that they are assembled locally with a minimum amount of local components.
Developed by Daihatsu chief engineer Nobuhiko Ono, [10] [11] it is built on lengthened Ayla's platform and positioned below the Xenia as a more affordable MPV option for the Indonesian market, where three-row MPVs have high demand in the country. [8] It is also rebadged and sold by Toyota as the Toyota Calya with a differentiated front fascia.
