Wakefield College is a Further Education and Higher Education College [2] in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England. It has provided education in the city since 1868. [ 3 ] On 1 March 2022, the college merged with Selby College to form the 'Heart of Yorkshire Education Group', with the college retaining its identity but with an updated logo.
The building was commissioned to replace the Old Town Hall in Crown Court which had been completed in 1800. [2] After deciding that the old town hall was of insufficient status to compete with Leeds Town Hall and Bradford City Hall, civic leaders chose to procure a new town hall: [3] the site they selected was a vacant area between the mechanics institute and the old Crown Court.
Kettlethorpe Hall. Kettlethorpe Hall is a Georgian house in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England.The hall is a Grade I listed building.From 1847 until 1996, the grounds of the hall contained the façade of a 14th-century chapel on the front of a boathouse, which was a Grade II* listed building.
Wakefield Hall was originally built to be a new library for Northland College.Its exterior was based on George Washington's birthplace.Plans were made in advance for the building to be converted into offices once the college needed a bigger library.

Wakefield College has two adult education courses at the school, one being in Beauty Therapy.Minsthorpe Community College also has a day care centre on the site named "Happy Days Children's Centre" and a Sports and Fitness Centre open to the whole community as well as its students, who are aged 15 or above.
It is also home to the Castleford Campus of Wakefield College. The local football team is Glasshoughton Welfare F.C., for whom former Liverpool F.C. goalkeeper, Bruce Grobbelaar made one fund-raising appearance in 2007. For elections to Wakefield Council, it is in the Castleford Central and Glasshoughton electoral ward.
It was designed by Cartwright Pickard Architects. Work began in August 2010, and the building was completed in January 2012. In addition to the council offices and a one-stop-shop for council services, it also houses Wakefield Museum, the city's central library, and a cafe. The building won the Regional Architect of the Year award.
