Monkey D. Luffy (/ ˈ l uː f i / LOO-fee) (Japanese: モンキー・D・ルフィ, Hepburn: Monkī Dī Rufi, [ɾɯꜜɸiː]), also known as "Straw Hat" Luffy, [n 2] is a fictional character and the protagonist in the Japanese manga series One Piece created by Eiichiro Oda.
Luffy, Zoro, Lucci, and Kaku battle S-Bear and S-Hawk, whose Lunarian abilities resist attacks. Zoro and Shaka discover their weakness: vulnerability when their flames are extinguished. On Building A's third floor, Nami, Brook, and Edison confront S-Shark, with Sanji joining in.
Luffy attempt to fight back using Armament Haki, but his punches go right though him, much to Luffy's confusion, as Trebol question Luffy's assumption of his Devil Fruit being a Logia. Law tells Luffy that fighting Trebol is futile, while revealing Trebol's slime is in fact mucus, before he begins to insult Trebol and the other executives.
Luffy is found on an island beach, where he saves a little girl, Medaka, from two pirates. All the villagers, including Medaka's father, have been abducted by Ganzack and his crew and forced into labour. After hearing that Ganzack also stole all the food, Luffy and Zoro rush out to retrieve it. As they fight the pirates, one of them kidnaps Medaka.
Magellan orders Sadie and the rest of the Demon Guards to guard the stairway to Level 5 while Hannyabal gets assigned to Level 3. Luffy and the others land in Level 4, managing to avoid being boiled in the sea of blood. Luffy and Mr. 2 fight their way through the guards in search of food until Magellan intercepts them.

Luffy reels him in, but when grabbing Zephyr's prosthetic arm (a weapon made with sea prism stone known as the battle smasher), Luffy loses all his strength. Chopper attends to Zephyr's wounds. Zephyr comes too and, after learning that he is the presence of pirates, fights Luffy, Roronoa Zoro and Sanji.
