Logan Regional Hospital is a 146-bed general hospital located in Logan, Utah. It is owned by Intermountain Healthcare. The hospital serves Cache Valley, including Cache County, Utah and Franklin County, Idaho, and western Wyoming. Logan Regional's mission is "Helping People Live the Healthiest Lives Possible."
In 1903 the Asylum was renamed the Utah State Mental Hospital, and in 1927 it adopted its current name in an effort to eliminate the negative stigma associated with the word “mental.” Long-term patients at the hospital engaged in work therapy, which gave them something to do and also made USH self-sustaining.
In December 1983, the emergency department at SMMC was designated as a level I trauma center for adults. This was changed to level II in 1992. [1] SMMC has partnered with California State University, Long Beach to provide the only mental health trauma recovery center in Southern California. [2]
