After the New York Toy Fair in 1969, Ideal's "Beautiful Crissy" was released to the buying public. Each production year enjoyed some new variations. Production runs of the Crissy doll early in 1969 had adjustable hair that "grew" down to the doll's feet. Later production Crissy dolls in 1969 had hair extending only to hip length.
Master sculptor Vincent J. DeFilippo spent 27 years creating dolls for Ideal from 1963 to 1980 [verification needed]. Some of the company's most popular dolls during this period were Tammy (1962–1966), Flatsy dolls (1969–1973), Crissy (1969–1974), and Tressy (1970–1972).
The Ideal Toy Company version of the Tressy doll was an 18" fashion doll introduced in the year 1970 as "Gorgeous Tressy" and in 1971 as "Posin' Tressy". The Ideal Tressy Doll was specially produced for and sold only by Sears, Roebuck & Company and is considered by some collectors to be part of the Crissy "family" of dolls.
