The main entrance to the bus station is at the base of the 165-foot-tall (50 m) glass tower at the corner of Liberty Avenue and 11th Street. In 1905 Pittsburgh Railways leased the route and between 1909 and 1910 converted it from narrow gauge to dual gauge and installed overhead power for trolleys. Mid-20th century PCC streetcars continued to operate on the Overbrook Line until 1993, when concerns about the safety of the line led PAT to suspend service there pending reconstruction.
