13 Roses (Spanish: Las 13 Rosas) is a 2007 Spanish-Italian film directed by Emilio Martínez Lázaro.It stars Pilar Lopez de Ayala, Verónica Sánchez and Marta Etura.The plot, based on a true story, follows the tragic fate of Las Trece Rosas, fighting for their ideals in the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War.
"Las Trece Rosas" (the Thirteen Roses) is the name given in Spain to a group of thirteen young women who were executed by a Francoist firing squad on 5 August 1939, just after the conclusion of the Spanish Civil War.
