Green Brook Township is a township in Somerset County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey.It is centrally located within the Raritan Valley region.As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 7,281, [9] [10] an increase of 78 (+1.1%) from the 2010 census count of 7,203, [19] [20] which in turn reflected an increase of 1,549 (+27.4%) from the 5,654 counted in the 2000 census.

Prior to the completion of the district's own high school, students from Dunellen had attended Plainfield High School (in place from 1906 until 1925) and then Bound Brook High School (from 1925 to 1935).
