Adelaide Bowling Club was founded in 1897 and is the oldest bowling club in South Australia. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] [ 3 ] The club was founded as the result of a public meeting called by Henry F. Dench and chaired by J. H. Finlayson .

The Palmerston North Bowling Club was formed at a meeting held in the Commercial Hotel on 23 December 1889 [2] with nine persons in attendance. A special committee was set up in November 1899 to investigate the purchase of a property in Taonui Street and to rent a strip of land on the North Side of the club in Lombard Street in order to allow for more playing area.
