The 2019 Southeast Asian Games, officially known as the 30th Southeast Asian Games, were held in the Philippines, from 30 November 2019 to 11 December 2019. With 56 sports and 530 events, a total of 1,784 medals were awarded.
On 25 November 2019, SEA Games volunteer program head Chris Tiu responded that the lack of updates on the status of the volunteers' deployment was due to the numerous cases of missing requirements amongst volunteers. Tiu, however, reassured that they were finalizing their schedules.
Football at the 2019 SEA Games were held across three venues in the Philippines; the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila, Biñan Football Stadium in Biñan, Laguna, and the City of Imus Grandstand, Imus for the men's tournament. The women's tournament was held in Manila and Biñan.
The men's football tournament at the 2019 SEA Games was held from November 25 to December 10, 2019 in the Philippines. All eleven Southeast Asian nations participated in the men's tournament. Matches were played in Manila, Biñan and Imus. Men's teams were restricted to under-22 players (born on or after January 1, 1997).
The basketball tournament in the games featured four events; traditional 5-on-5 basketball and 3x3 basketball, for both men and women. [ 1 ] In 5-on-5, the Philippines were the 12-time defending champions in men's and Malaysia were the two-time defending champions in women's. 3x3 basketball was contested for the first time [ 2 ] for both genders.
