The Alcorn State Braves baseball team is the varsity intercollegiate baseball program of Alcorn State University in Lorman, Mississippi, United States.The program's first season was in 1959, and it has been a member of the NCAA Division I Southwestern Athletic Conference since the start of the 1963 season.
Reginald Dewayne Williams (born August 29, 1960) is an American baseball coach and former outfielder, who most recently was the head baseball coach of the Alcorn State Braves. He played college baseball at Southern from 1979 to 1982 and played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for 4 seasons from 1985 to 1988. Williams was born in Memphis, Tennessee.
Brandon Antonio Rembert (born October 17, 1998) is an American Major League Baseball scout and former college baseball outfielder for the Alcorn State University Braves. [1] [2] In February 2022, he was hired by the Pittsburgh Pirates of Major League Baseball as a Minor League Baseball Operations Assistant.
The field is named for Bill Foster, former Negro leagues baseball player, member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame, and Alcorn State head baseball coach from 1960 to 1971. The stadium is named for Willie McGowan, head baseball coach from 1972 to 2009. [1] [2] In 38 years as Alcorn State's coach, McGowan won over 700 games. [3]
