Summit is an unincorporated community in eastern Washington County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. [1] The community is situated on a ridge (elevation 1007 feet [1]) at the intersection of Missouri Route 8 and the Missouri Pacific Railroad line. Potosi is approximately 4.5 miles to the northwest on Route 8. [2]

Summit Township was created sometime between 1883 and June 1890 (per US Veterans Schedules of that date) from the southern half of what had since 1824 been a doubly-larger Cedar Township bounded on the south by the Missouri River.
