USC Florence, a campus from 1957 until it became independent on July 1, 1970 as Francis Marion College (now Francis Marion University). USC Coastal Carolina, a previously independent two-year campus, joined the USC System in 1959 and remained until it became independent on July 1, 1993 as Coastal Carolina University .
USC Union is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and awards associate degrees in both art and science. USC Union is also able to offer the USC Aiken Bachelor of Science in Nursing through a partnership with USC Aiken, allowing students to complete the entirety of their studies at either the Union or Laurens campus. Students who have 60 college credit hours can be admitted to Palmetto College and receive a bachelor's degree. The bachelor's degrees are offered through one of the four senior campuses of USC: USC Aiken, USC Beaufort, USC Columbia, or USC Upstate.

The bachelor's degree in Nursing program is conducted in partnership with the College of Nursing at USC Columbia.
