MercyOne (formerly Mercy Health Network) is an American non-profit system of hospitals, clinics, and health care facilities in the U.S. states of Iowa, [1] Nebraska and surrounding communities. It is run under a joint operating agreement between Catholic Health Initiatives and Trinity Health . [ 2 ]
MercyOne is a member of MercyOne Network, a partnership of Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Trinity Health. MercyOne Des Moines is one of the largest employers in the state of Iowa with more than 5,300 employees, and 800 physicians and allied health associates. The main campus has a 656-bed acute care facility.
The system began in 1993, when Iowa Lutheran Hospital and Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines merged, forming the state's largest provider of hospital and related health services. The organization grew to encompass eight metropolitan areas and changed its name in 2013 to reflect that it was no longer exclusive to Iowa.
