The Purple Rose Theatre Company is a 501(c) non-profit regional theater located in Chelsea, Michigan. It was founded in 1991 [ 1 ] by actor and playwright Jeff Daniels . [ 2 ] Its name comes from the 1985 film The Purple Rose of Cairo , [ 3 ] which starred Daniels and for which he earned his first Golden Globe nomination.
The remote auditions took place from August 10 to October 28, 2020, in all 50 states, plus Washington, D.C., as well as a number of open-call auditions, and from these the producers selected the contestants who would then be invited to audition in front of the judges. [4] [5]
