Daniel Nicholas DiNardo (born May 23, 1949) is an American cardinal of the Catholic Church. He is the second archbishop of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston in Texas, serving since 2006. He previously served as coadjutor bishop and bishop of the Diocese of Sioux City in Iowa from 1997 to 2004.
Untener made two trips to the Vatican and an appeal to the pope. On the second trip, Cardinal Dearden accompanied Untener, publicly supporting him. Untener was consecrated bishop on November 24, 1980. Untener later stated of the ordeal, "Having experienced that right away freed me of the burden of trying to be held in favor." [1]
