Except 4th gen’s more top heavy, 5th gen only weighs like 300lbs more and it’s a little longer and wider. which makes the second row much better. Plus the suspension upgrades of the 5th make it more agile and handle better. And the v8 4th came in the limited. And the 4th gen’s rust issues don’t help it.
Folks I was FINALLY able to save up enough to purchase a 5th gen 4Runner TRD off road and I’m stoked to start upgrading it. First thing first I need to get some ATs on her. After my initial research I’ve narrowed it down to BFG K02s, General Grabber AT 2s or Conti Terraincontact AT.
Best year is always the current one. As those with the new tundra would know, first year models always have issues, as the model continues production throughout the years it's more refined. After about 4 years or minor model change all the kinks are usually worked out. 2021 4runner just won best suv in its class .
A place for 4Runner enthusiasts to gather. I built a sleeping platform for my 5th gen 4Runner. Aluminum extrusions I got from 8020 I used the 25x25mm extrusions cause they’re cheap. I got most of the hardware from T-nutz cause they sell the hardware cheaper.
I was just in Maui and Lanai last week. It feels like every 4th vehicle is a 4Runner. Tons of 3rd gens there, too. I’m high mileage for my year but not my vehicle lol. 22 OR with 112k. I have 43K on my '21. I feel like she isn't even "broken in" yet. Planning on about 460K more miles at least on 'er.
I've been looking around for replacing the stock head unit for my 5th gen 4runner and I've come across a couple. Not sure if there's a general consensus on which is considered the right one to go with or if it's just to each their own. My main features I'm looking for is wireless android auto/carplay and a flush screen.
May 5, 2021. #1. I just moved about 1k miles towing a 12 foot uhaul loaded at max capacity (about 5k, maybe a little over) using a 5th gen 4runner and thought I would post the performance since I couldn't find anything before my trip. -Acceleration was decent but you could definitely feel the weight.
One of the issues you will run into with adding an amp is that the stock speakers are wired in series, so even though it's a 4 channel system it's running 8 speakers. The front/dash are paired and rear/tailgate are paired. That means if you were to run them with 4ohm speakers (which are the most common), the amp would be seeing 8 ohms and each ...
Just FYI, Headlight Revolution is owned by the same people that own Morimoto, GTR, The Retrofit Source, and various other brands. Typically HR finds that one of their own brands is the brightest and best option. I’ve had my 5th gen for almost a year and the stock headlights frankly suck. I’d love to hear some of what you guys have done ...
Wandering Explorer. Nov 13, 2017. #1. I'm looking for bolt on recovery points for the front of my 5th Gen 4Runner. An aftermarket front bumper is probably a long way off, if ever. Yes, I've heard and read many times that the front loops welded to the frame are plenty strong for recovery. I'm just shy about using something that looks like a tie ...
