Udit Narayan Jha (born 1 December 1955) [1] is a playback singer who works in Bollywood and whose songs have been featured mainly in Hindi language, Nepali and Bollywood movies. Besides Nepali and Hindi, he has sung in 36 languages. He has won three National Film Awards and five Filmfare Awards.
Udit Narayan Jha was born on 1 December 1955 in an ethnic Maithil Brahmin family to Harekrishna Jha, a Nepalese national, and Bhuvaneshwari Jha, an Indian national. [13] [14] [15] In 2009, when Narayan was awarded India's fourth highest civilian honour Padma Shri, there were reports questioning his Indian citizenship, claiming that he was born in Nepal.
