LZ4 only uses a dictionary-matching stage (LZ77), and unlike other common compression algorithms does not combine it with an entropy coding stage (e.g. Huffman coding in DEFLATE). [4] [5] The LZ4 algorithm represents the data as a series of sequences. Each sequence begins with a one-byte token that is broken into two 4-bit fields.
The standard dictd [7] server made by the DICT Development Group [1] uses a special dict file format. It comprises two files, a .index file and a .dict file (or .dict.dz if compressed). These files are usually generated by a program called dictfmt. For example, the Unix command:
FlatBuffers can be used in software written in C++, C#, C, Go, Java, JavaScript, Kotlin, Lobster, Lua, PHP, Python, Rust, Swift, and TypeScript. The schema compiler runs on Android , Microsoft Windows , macOS , and Linux , [ 3 ] but games and other programs use FlatBuffers for serialization work on many other operating systems as well ...
LZSS is a dictionary coding technique. It attempts to replace a string of symbols with a reference to a dictionary location of the same string. The main difference between LZ77 and LZSS is that in LZ77 the dictionary reference could actually be longer than the string it was replacing.
The length is the number of bytes in the string, encoded in base 10. A colon (:) separates the length and the contents. The contents are the exact number of bytes specified by the length. Examples: An empty string is encoded as 0:. The string "bencode" is encoded as 7:bencode. Lists are encoded as l<elements>e. Begins with l and ends with e.
40 indicates a 4 GB − 1 dictionary size; Even values less than 40 indicate a 2 v/2 + 12 bytes dictionary size; Odd values less than 40 indicate a 3×2 (v − 1)/2 + 11 bytes dictionary size; Values higher than 40 are invalid; LZMA2 data consists of packets starting with a control byte, with the following values: 0 denotes the end of the file ...
Flow diagram. In computing, serialization (or serialisation, also referred to as pickling in Python) is the process of translating a data structure or object state into a format that can be stored (e.g. files in secondary storage devices, data buffers in primary storage devices) or transmitted (e.g. data streams over computer networks) and reconstructed later (possibly in a different computer ...
