Cauldwell Historic Cemetery (aka Cauldwell-Brokaw) on W. State Rd 234 was built circa 1846 and restored in 2021 after a car accident did substantial damage to the small cemetery 4. Caudell-Simmons Historic Cemetery on CR 1050 N. in Fortville was built circa 1839 and is scheduled to be restored in the summer of 2022.
The settlement that became Fortville was originally named Phoebe Fort before it was changed to Walpole after a Greenfield politcian named Thomas D. Walpole. [6] Under the latter name was laid out and platted in 1849. [7] It was named for Cephas Fort, the original owner of the town site. [8] Fortville was incorporated as a town in 1865. [9]

State Road 234 exists in two sections in Indiana. The western portion begins at the Illinois border from a Vermilion County, Illinois, county road. It runs east from there to U.S. Route 136 (US 136) near Jamestown. Much of the route is a scenic, two-lane road with very tight turns. The primary access to Shades State Park is located along SR 234.

State Road 238 (SR 238) was a short 6 miles (9.7 km) stretch of two-lane undivided road, mostly in Hamilton County, that traveled southeast from near Fishers (a northeast suburb of Indianapolis) to Fortville. The western portion was concurrent with Greenfield Avenue.
Kingman is located on State Road 234, about two miles west of U.S. Route 41. According to the 2010 census, Kingman has a total area of 0.82 square miles (2.12 km 2 ), all land. [ 6 ]
